Schools are preparing for “autumn diseases” with preventive measures

Private schools called on students to keep their children at home, and not send them to school in the event of any health change on them, noting that the fall semester is witnessing a noticeable increase in cases of respiratory and seasonal diseases, especially in children who suffer from chronic diseases or weakness in immunity, which requires their survival at home because no infection is transmitted to students, noting that it carries out preventive measures to enhance safety Students include sterilizing common places regularly, frequently ventilated classrooms, and encouraging the commitment of hygiene rules.

Doctors stressed the importance of providing an appropriate environment for children, in terms of hygiene and appropriate clothing, in addition to paying attention to balanced nutrition, and following up the changes that may occur to the child such as high temperature or coughing, noting that it constitutes the basic pillars to overcome this period with the lowest possible complications, stressing the need to ensure continuous communication with health specialists and a quick response to any unfamiliar symptoms.

In detail, the students of students received school messages, the Emirates Today briefed them, asking them to ensure the follow -up of the health of their children daily before sending them to school, keeping them at home and seeing a doctor in cases of noting changes such as vomiting or diarrhea, and the high temperature to the highest of 38 degrees, because the high temperature indicates that the child resists an infection, and it is likely to be contagious, while the coughing indicates a respiratory disease Prepared.

It also identified a number of diseases that require keeping the child at home and following up on health specialists, including: chickenpox, lice and sore throat.

Aya Abdel Nasser said: “The weather volatility in general is a great opportunity for the spread of the disease, especially among children, and the fall is the most famous seasons with the disease, as the spread of viruses and the possibility of their transmission increases due to the mixing of children inside schools, which requires strengthening their immunity and taking the necessary precautions to remove diseases and infection as much as possible.”

She added: “Children at the age of school are vulnerable to infected diseases, due to student gatherings in the classroom, the use of common places, and the lack of full compliance with the rules of hygiene, due to their young age and their large number Between colds, coughing, sore throat and nasal congestion, all the way to asthma attacks, in addition to some psychological symptoms such as feeling lethargy and sleep disturbance, which strains the body and weakens its resistance.

The dietitian, Dr. Nour Dhahir, stressed that the prevention of common diseases in children at school age requires strengthening the immune system through healthy food and drink, as nutrition plays a major role in enhancing body immunity during the fall season, pointing to the importance of foods rich in vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C and vitamin D, in addition to antioxidants that fight infections, and adhere to a healthy diet that contributes In reducing the chances of developing seasonal diseases.

She said: «The daily meal for children must include different varieties of fruits and vegetables, and choosing whole grains (the type of carbohydrates more important than its quantity), and ensuring that protein (eggs, milk, yogurt, and fat -free meat), with the importance of replacing unhealthy varieties in health, and that children get used to eating yogurt and berries, with the need to wash hands regularly to reduce exposure to viruses And bacteria, which limits infection that may weaken the immune system, in addition to the fact that the access to the number of hours of enough sleep contributes to the formation of strong immunity and is able to resist diseases.

The doctors: Muhammad Lutfi, Ahmed Ali, Mai Muhammad and Hala Ibrahim, stressed that the autumn semester is one of the transitional chapters that witness a clear change in climatic conditions, as temperatures decrease gradually, humidity rates are changed, and wind movement increases, which is reflected directly on public health.

They stressed that prevention is the best way to protect against autumn diseases, and this includes the commitment of personal hygiene, wearing suitable clothes for volatile weather, and taking seasonal vaccines such as influenza, with the need to see a doctor as soon as any symptoms appear, to be able to obtain the appropriate treatment at the right time.

School departments emphasized their keenness to sterilize common places regularly, frequently ventilated the classrooms, encourage students and educational and administrative staff to adhere to the rules of hygiene, in addition to removing any student who shows the symptoms of the disease from the rest of the students, and keeping it in the school clinic room, noting the importance of the home cooperation with the school to ensure the safety of students.

The educators: Faisal Saeed, Hassan Abdullah, Youssef Awad, Nasser Darwish and Hilal Ishaq, pointed out that school administrations are keen to involve students in the school examination program, and to provide high -quality health services to them, through school clinics without any additional cost to them, and work through school policies to raise the health level of students, by providing promotional, preventive and treatment services, by monitoring, following up and combating infectious diseases, And attention to vaccinations and early detection of infectious diseases in schools and isolating them, as well as following up in non -infectious diseases, conducting a comprehensive detection, following up on positive cases, providing first aid, and dealing with emergency situations as well as paying attention to oral and dental health.

For its part, the Department of Education and Knowledge affirmed that schools must establish and manage a clinic within the school, to provide health care services to students, in line with the requirements and standards of the department, and the school requires obtaining a license for a health care facility from the Health Department and maintaining it to operate its clinic, and schools must employ a full -time school nurse, who has a valid professional health license, and to ensure that the school nurse fulfills the requirements of qualifications Professionalism and performance standards set by the Department of Health, completely understanding and committing to the strictness of all the standards of the Health Department that regulates giving medicines in schools.

She pointed out that the schools are required – according to the health and safety policy – to ensure that medications are given, including dealing with accidents and medical emergencies (such as excessive sensitivity and seizures), according to the requirements of the Health Department and the approval of the parents of the complete matter that renews each semester, or when there is a change in the student’s drug, and schools must ensure basic and comprehensive medical examinations, and allow access to the providers Health care appointed by the Health Department, facilitating their mission to conduct the school vaccination program for students, and documenting medical care services provided in the school, including any drugs given or health examination and vaccination and the results of any medical interventions in the student’s medical record while maintaining confidentiality according to the requirements of the Health Department, and for the policy of the Department of Education and Knowledge for Records in Schools.


“Comprehensive Examination”

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center emphasized that the school health examinations programs are carried out from a series of medical tests, designed to discover early health problems, which enhances students’ welfare and academic performance, stressing that the UAE government is given a great priority to early detection of health problems, ensuring that students from kindergarten get the 12 grade to the necessary examinations.

He also confirmed the conduct of early examinations for students, divided into two parts: the first is the annual examinations that include all the academic levels from the first to 12 grade, and include examination of weight, height, body mass, vital indicators and consideration, while the second part of the comprehensive examinations of students of the first, fifth and ninth grades is presented, and includes testing medical history, physical examination, “colors blindness”, hearing, scoliosis (spine curvature), Blood and dental health, which contributes to monitoring seven types of diseases early, stressing the importance of the commitment of parents, families, schools and society in general to conducting students through the school examinations program, in order to enjoy good health and create healthy societies.

The department determined the absence due to the disease within the justified types of absence, noting that the absence for three consecutive medical reasons requires notifying the school through a message from the guardian, while the absence requires from the fourth day to provide a satisfactory leave approved by the Abu Dhabi Health Department.
