"Sharjah Roads" You inaugurate 9 new buses that match criteria "Euro 5"
Sharjah, September 27 / WAM / The Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah today launched 9 new buses in line with the EURO 5 specifications of exhaust emissions, joining this modern fleet to the public transport network in the emirate, bringing the total number of buses under operation to 138 buses.
This step comes within the framework of the committee’s continuous efforts to update the mass transportation system and upgrade the level of services provided to the population and visitors according to the highest approved operational and environmental standards.
His Excellency Eng. Youssef Khamis Al -Othmani, head of the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah, stressed that the inauguration of the new buses reflects the commitment of the authority to expand and develop the public transport fleet to keep pace with the growing population growth in the emirate and the growing demand for mass transport services.
He said: Through this qualitative addition, we seek to provide safe and reliable transportation options that achieve comfort for passengers and are in line with the visions of the Sharjah government aimed at enhancing environmentally friendly standards and providing sustainable transport solutions that contribute to community service and support the comprehensive development process.
He added that the new buses are characterized by modern technologies and high efficiency in fuel consumption, as well as low rates of emissions, which enhances the authority’s directions towards a sustainable collective transport system that supports environmental safety and maintains air quality, and these specifications reflect the authority’s keenness to reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to reducing pollution resulting from vehicles in addition to improving operation efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to passengers.
For his part, His Excellency Abdulaziz Al -Jarwan, Director of the Authority for Transportation Affairs, affirmed that the inauguration of these new buses represents a qualitative addition to the process of developing the mass transport sector in Sharjah, explaining that the authority is constantly working to raise the efficiency of the fleet and provide it with the latest and most secure and appropriate buses for the public use.
