The President of the State and the Prime Minister of Australia discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and Prime Minister of Commonwealth Australia, Anthony Al -Baniz, discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, especially economic and development, and ways to enhance them within the framework of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two countries.

His Highness the President of the State welcomed, during the meeting that took place yesterday, at the Beach Palace in Abu Dhabi, with the Australian Prime Minister, stressing the strength and development of the UAE -Australian relations over the past decades, especially in the fields of future economy, investment, renewable energy, sustainability and education, and other sectors that represent developmental priorities for the two countries.

His Highness the President of the State said that the relations of the UAE and Australia are not limited to political and economic aspects only, but also extend to the cultural and educational fields, which is a cultural bridge for acquaintance and understanding between their peoples.

The meeting also touched on a number of regional and international issues of common concern, and in this context, His Highness expressed his appreciation for Australia’s recognition of the Palestinian state, stressing that this position embodies awareness of the foundations required to achieve peace in the region, foremost of which is the establishment of the Palestinian state according to the principle of “two countries solution”.

For his part, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Al -Baniz noted the development witnessed by the relations between the UAE and Australia, stressing the proceeding of its strengthening and pushing it forward.

The two sides expressed their keenness to continue achieving the goals of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed by the two countries during the past year, looking forward to contributing to achieving a qualitative shift in their economic relations.

They also confirmed their common interest in strengthening their development partnerships, and investing all the opportunities available in this regard for the benefit of development and prosperity in the two countries.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Presidency for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the State, and a number of ministers and senior officials in the country, as well as the accompanying delegation to the Australian Prime Minister.
