The “Upgrade” program is the basic organizational tool that works within the framework of unified school control and evaluation standards at the UAE level, aimed at ensuring the continuous improvement of the quality of education in Abu Dhabi schools.
The program is based on six main criteria that include students’ achievements, personal and social development and innovation skills, teaching and evaluation, academic curriculum, protecting, caring for and guiding students, in addition to leadership and management.
The inspections are conducted within the “Upgrade” program every two years, based on 17 performance indicators, in a manner that ensures the commitment of educational institutions at the highest levels of quality, and providing accurate and transparent data for parents about the performance of schools, which contributes to enhancing educational options in front of them and raising the level of competitiveness and excellence in the sector.
The Department of Education and Knowledge emphasized that the “good” classification represents the expected level for all schools in the country, and that the schools that recorded the “acceptable” classification or less underwent restrictions on increasing their capacity or adding new classes, as it was not allowed to register new Emirati students until after achieving a tangible improvement in its results.
