The UAE and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are looking into Paris to enhance their partnership

Paris, October 2 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, stressed that the United Arab Emirates and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) provides a successful model for cooperation and fruitful partnership that spanned nearly two decades, and witnessed a series of joint projects and initiatives aimed at promoting comprehensive and sustainable economic development in the country, diversifying its economy, developing its business environment according to best practices Followed.
This came during a meeting with His Excellency His Excellency Matthias Korman, Secretary -General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development “OECD”, on the sidelines of his visit to Paris to participate in an event organized by the state embassy in France on promoting innovation and advanced technologies in the vital economic sectors.
He described the meeting as an important step to discuss opportunities to enhance existing cooperation paths with the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, ways to develop and modernize economic policies, deepen institutional cooperation by expanding participation in the organization’s committees, and the possibility of establishing an office dedicated to the UAE of the organization, in a way that enhances permanent and continuous communication between the two parties, and serves priorities and economic and development aspirations of the state.
In this context, His Excellency the Secretary -General of the organization briefed on the legislative developments of the business environment and economy in the UAE, including the issuance and modernization of more than 35 legislation, policy and economic decision over the past five years, including 10 policies in the sectors of the new economy, the most prominent of which are integrated and advanced laws for family companies, cooperatives, commercial agencies, e -commerce and intellectual property, and allowing ownership Foreign for companies, and the establishment of business and activities by 100%.
The meeting witnessed the follow -up of the results achieved within the second phase of the project to develop and modernize the economic policies of the state, which was launched by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in partnership with the organization last July, and is based on two main axes: the first is to enhance governance and institutional integration in the tourism system in the country and develop data, and the second is to support the partnership between the government and private sectors by hosting a copy of the Consultative Business Council in Expo Dubai before the end of the current year This axis aims to enhance the participation of the private sector in formulating policies, which contributes to building more open and competitive economies in the region.
The two parties reviewed the achievements achieved during the first phase of this project, which included the development and modernization of 4 economic policies that include entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises, competition and corporate governance, enhancing coordination and twinning in economic policies between the federal and local levels, in order to ensure the harmony of national trends and strategies with international best practices, and enhances the efficiency and flexibility of the economic legislative system in the state.
