Hamdan bin Zayed looks at the preparations, plans and activities of the Liwa International Festival 2026
Abu Dhabi, October 2 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, briefed on the ongoing preparations and development plans to organize the next version of the Liwa International Festival 2026, which starts from December 12, 2025 to January 3, 2026, and aims to enhance the position of Al Dhafra region as a prominent tourist, cultural and sports destination.
During his meeting at the Palm Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness reviewed the festival in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the ongoing preparations, organization plans and events accompanying the festival, which is one of the most important heritage, tourism and sports events hosted by the Al Dhafra region annually, and is widely popular with the local audience and visitors from different countries of the region and the world.
His Highness listened to a comprehensive presentation, about the festival’s agenda and various programs that include sports championships and competitions, heritage shows, and artistic and cultural exhibitions, as well as activities directed to families, youth and children, in order to establish the festival’s position as an integrated public event that reflects the national identity and enhances cultural and heritage tourism in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the Liwa International Festival represents an important platform to highlight the original Emirati heritage and link it to new generations, embodying the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, regarding the consolidation of authentic Emirati values in the hearts of youth, and the preservation of the rich heritage of the state and ensuring its sustainability.
His Highness praised the great efforts made by the festival and strategic partners in preparing the 2026 edition to be at the level of the aspirations of the rational leadership, and reflects the position of the UAE as a distinguished global destination for festivals and events.
His Highness said that Al Dhafra, with its natural, cultural and heritage ingredients, is a unique destination for such events, stressing his continuous support for the festival and all initiatives that enhance the position of the region and serve the aspirations of its children.
For his part, His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, head of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, thanked and appreciated His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his continuous support, stressing that the Liwa International Festival 2026 will be a prominent station within the agenda of national and international events that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will host, and will contribute to strengthening its leadership position on the map of global tourism.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Muhammad Ali Al -Shurafa, Head of the Municipalities and Transport Department in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Nasser Muhammad Al -Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al -Dhafra region, His Excellency Saud Al -Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, and a number of officials.
