A research partnership between “Sharjah Agriculture” and Al Dhaid University

The Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah today signed a partnership with Al Dhaid University with the aim of developing scientific research in the agricultural and animal sector to promote sustainable development in the Emirate of Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general in the context of supporting the national sustainability goals and in a move that reflects its direction towards promoting research work and developing the agricultural and livestock sector and supporting sustainable development with innovative solutions to overcome challenges.

The partnership was signed by Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al -Tunaiji, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Aisha Abu Julibi, Director of Al Dhaid University, in the presence of Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Government Relations Department in Sharjah, and a number of officials of both sides and faculty members at the university.

The strategic partnership between the two sides provides for enhancing cooperation in developing and implementing a joint strategic research agenda in addition to preparing and implementing training programs for professional and career development and specialized workshops for employees in various academic fields.

According to the partnership, the two sides will cooperate in implementing specialized training and applied programs for university students that enable them to enhance their practical and scientific skills and develop the necessary programs to provide students with knowledge and skills that qualify them for the labor market in addition to participating in events, activities, conferences, seminars and lectures that are implemented or sponsored by both parties.

Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al -Tunaiji said that the partnership with Al Dhaid University reflects the commitment of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in empowering students, training them and developing scientific research, stressing that the projects affiliated with the department, their facilities and research centers are open to university students, especially in the specialties of agriculture, livestock, organic food industries, veterinary medicine and other other Other disciplines that promote the vital sector and contribute to the rehabilitation of national hands to contribute to sustainable development.

He added that this partnership is an additional step in enhancing scientific research efforts and creating innovative solutions to develop the vital sector with the aim of overcoming environmental and climatic challenges and consolidating the sector’s position as a basic tributary in the food and economic system of the UAE.

For her part, Dr. Aisha Abu Jilibi said that the partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock is an extension of the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in making science and scientific research a pillar of sustainable development.

She added that the partnership embodies the university’s commitment to strengthen its role as an active research institution in the service of the community by employing the scientific and research capabilities of the university to support agricultural and animal development plans in Sharjah and the UAE and also pays special attention to enabling our students through training programs and applied projects that open up broad horizons to gain practical experiences in a way that qualifies them to be national cadres capable of contributing to building the future Sustainable.

She pointed out that the university is working through this partnership to develop a joint research agenda with the department and launch specialized programs in professional training and development in addition to involving students in initiatives and activities that contribute to promoting innovation and finding practical solutions to environmental and climatic challenges.
