Abu Dhabi, October 8/ WAM/ Christopher Clement, CEO of the International Committee for Radiation Prevention, stressed that the UAE continues its leadership in building an integrated system for radiation prevention and noted that it has become an advanced model in the field of radiological protection, thanks to the integrated national efforts led by the Federal Nuclear Control Authority and state institutions operating in this field.
Clement said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” on the sidelines of the eighth international conference on the radiation prevention system in Abu Dhabi, which will be concluded tomorrow that the UAE has come a long way in developing its policies and programs for radioactive safety, especially in light of the operation of the Baraka Nuclear Energy Station that represents a strategic achievement in the peaceful energy sector, along with the remarkable development in the advanced medical infrastructure in The state, which reflects its commitment to enhance the highest standards of safety and protect human and the environment.
He explained that the ICRC is linked to a long -term partnership with the UAE that extends for more than ten years, through close cooperation with the Federal Nuclear Supervision Authority and a number of national institutions such as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, noting that these partnerships represent a unique opportunity to develop global best practices in the field of radiological protection.
He added that the committee sees in the experience of the Emirates an inspiring example that embodies the commitment of modern countries to apply the highest standards of radioactive safety, stressing that the convening of the conference in the country reflects its growing position on the international scene as a center for scientific cooperation and exchange of experiences in this vital field.
He pointed out that the International Committee for Radiation Prevention organizes during the conference a series of specialized scientific sessions to discuss ways to develop and modernize global methodologies in the field of radiological protection, with the aim of enhancing the safety of human and the environment around the world, stressing that the results of these discussions will contribute to consolidating more efficient and comprehensive practices that include the UAE, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and other countries of the world.
The conference, organized by the Federal Nuclear Control Authority, in cooperation with the International Committee for Radiation Prevention, brings together more than 500 experts, scientists and policy maker from 53 countries, which makes it one of the largest international gatherings designated for radiation prevention.
