Ahmed Al-Sayegh heads the UAE delegation to the Conference of Health Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jordan

Amman, 9 October / WAM / His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Community Protection, headed the UAE delegation participating in the eighth session of the Conference of Health Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the period from 7 to 9 October under the slogan “Health is our shared responsibility”, with the participation of health ministers from member states and representatives of regional and international organizations.
In his opening speech, His Excellency stressed the UAE’s keenness, under the directives of its wise leadership, to continue its effective role in supporting the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to enhance integration in health fields, and to develop policies and plans aimed at achieving comprehensive health coverage and sustainable development goals, in a way that contributes to enhancing the quality of life for the peoples of member states, pointing out that the UAE continues its efforts to share its pioneering experience in confronting health challenges, and to exchange experiences with member states within the framework of work subscriber.
His Excellency appreciated the prominent role played by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in enhancing cooperation among member states in the health field, by supporting joint initiatives and projects, building national capacities, and developing emergency systems and preparedness to confront health challenges, especially epidemics and chronic diseases, through joint work and employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence in the fields of prevention and health care.
He pointed to the constructive cooperation with the organization during the UAE’s presidency of the seventh session, which was held in Abu Dhabi in 2019, which was evident in the joint response to the “Covid-19” pandemic, as the country provided logistical support to a number of member states, confirming its firm commitment to strengthening institutional solidarity and activating partnerships under the organization’s umbrella.
His Excellency pointed to the UAE’s pioneering experience in developing an integrated and sustainable health system, as it succeeded in establishing an advanced digital health care system that keeps pace with the best international standards and ensures the quality of services and ease of access, in addition to developing a proactive health system that employs innovative technologies and artificial intelligence in providing health services, strengthening the strategic partnership between the government and private sectors in the health field, and establishing a supportive regulatory environment for medical innovation and health technology, Benefiting from global and local partnerships in medical research and biotechnology, in addition to employing big data and digital technologies to improve health planning, and developing ambitious future strategies that keep pace with the “UAE Centennial 2071” vision.
On the sidelines of the conference, His Excellency Al Sayegh, during his meeting with His Excellency Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed, Minister of State for Organization and Coordination of National Health Services in Pakistan, discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health field, including the exchange of experts and specialists.
The meeting also touched on discussing the preparation of memorandums of understanding on organ transplantation, which will contribute to developing the exchange of medical expertise and expanding areas of health coordination between the two countries.
