Lewandowski joins Barcelona’s injured list before facing Real Madrid

Veteran Polish scorer Robert Lewandowski has joined Barcelona’s injured list, making him at risk of participating in the “Clásico” confrontation against rival Real Madrid at the end of this month, according to what the Spanish Football League champion announced.
Barcelona said in a brief statement on Tuesday, “The player Robert Lewandowski suffers from a muscle tear in the biceps muscle of his left thigh,” without specifying the duration of his absence from the field, but the Spanish media reported that the 37-year-old, whose German coach Hansi Flick tried to avoid this type of injury by resting him in a number of matches, may be absent between four and six weeks.
This means his absence from the next league match against Catalan neighbor Girona on Saturday, then from the Champions League match against Greek Olympiacos on Tuesday, in addition to the possibility of him not participating in the league “Classico” match against Real Madrid on the 26th of this month.
Barcelona is already missing a number of influential players due to injury, led by Lamine Gamal, Fermin Lopes and the Brazilian Rafinha, in addition to Dani Olmo and Gavi, goalkeepers Joan Garcia and German Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
There is also doubt about Ferran Torres’ participation in Saturday’s match against Girona after he withdrew from the Spanish national team camp due to a muscle injury.
