Urgent.. Egypt and Sudan confirm the unity of their position regarding the Ethiopian dam

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, and Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of General Intelligence. On the Sudanese side, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohieddin Salem, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service, and Ambassador Lieutenant General Engineer Imad al-Din Mustafa Adawi, Ambassador of Sudan. In Cairo, Major General Adel Ismail Abu Bakr Al-Faki, Director of the Office of the President of the Sovereignty Council.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the meeting witnessed the President welcoming the visit of Lieutenant General Al-Burhan to Egypt, praising the strong fraternal relations between the two countries that are witnessing continuous development in various fields.
The discussions also touched on developments. The field conditions in Sudan, and the regional and international efforts made to stop the war and achieve stability, as the President affirmed the constants of the Egyptian position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and rejected any attempts that threaten its security, affect its national cohesion, or aim to establish entities parallel to the legitimate government.
For his part, the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council expressed His appreciation for the continued Egyptian support and Egypt’s efforts to support Sudan to overcome its current crisis and restore security and stability, stressing the depth of the fraternal ties that unite the two brotherly peoples.
The official spokesman added that the meeting touched on the importance of the “Quartet Mechanism.” As an umbrella for working to settle the Sudanese crisis and stop the war, the two sides expressed their aspiration that the mechanism’s meeting in Washington during this October will produce positive results that contribute to achieving peace and stability.
The meeting also dealt with developments in the Nile water issue, as the two sides stressed their rejection of any unilateral measures on the Blue Nile that conflict with the provisions of international law, stressing the unity of the Egyptian position. Sudanese and their visions on the issue of the Ethiopian dam, and their agreement to strengthen consultation and coordination mechanisms to protect common water rights.
