Sherif Al Olama: The UAE is consolidating its global leadership position in accelerating the transition towards clean energy

Cairo, 16 October / WAM / Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, said that the UAE is working to consolidate its position as an active partner in global efforts aimed at achieving climate neutrality, by adopting qualitative initiatives and pioneering projects that support accelerating the transformation in the energy sector, and balancing between sustainability and economic growth. In this regard, he referred to the Global Alliance for Energy Efficiency, which was launched by the country represented by Recently at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, which is considered one of the distinguished models of international partnerships in this field, as it contributes to enhancing cooperation between governments and the private sector to accelerate the adoption of energy-saving initiatives and technologies and reduce emissions.

This came in a statement during his visit to the Egypt Energy and Firex 2025 Exhibition, which is being held in Cairo, from October 14 to 16, with wide participation from government agencies and regional and international companies specialized in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technologies, where he was briefed on the most prominent innovations and modern solutions in the fields of clean energy, sustainability and resource efficiency.

He stressed the importance of the exhibition in exchanging experiences and enhancing regional and international cooperation to support the global transition towards flexible, safe and low-carbon energy systems.

He added: “The UAE has achieved tangible progress in the field of clean energy, as the production capacity of renewable energy projects has exceeded 6.7 gigawatts. The country is also working to implement the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, which aims for the UAE to become one of the largest producers and exporters of low-carbon hydrogen in the world by 2050, which supports its vision of achieving climate neutrality and promoting sustainable economic growth.”

He explained that the UAE’s vision in the energy sector is consistent with global trends towards a low-carbon economy, and strengthens its position as a leading country in innovation and sustainability, noting that such exhibitions represent important platforms for exchanging knowledge and strengthening international partnerships in the fields of clean energy and advanced technology.
