Egypt expects growth in the tourism sector driven by an increase in the number of foreign visitors

Egypt expects the tourism sector to witness remarkable growth during the current year, driven by an increase in the number of visitors from major global markets, as the number of tourists arriving to the country is expected to range between 17.5 and 18 million tourists.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi indicated, in a special statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), that Russian tourists rank first in terms of the number of visitors, as their number is expected to exceed two million tourists during the year 2025.

He added that next year will witness further development in the tourism movement, especially in the New Alamein area on the northern coast, with the continued tourism momentum in various Egyptian destinations.

Fathi explained that the number of tourists coming from Germany has witnessed a significant increase, coming in second place after Russia with about 1.7 million tourists, stressing that current efforts are focused on diversifying the Egyptian tourism product in a way that contributes to attracting new segments of visitors.

The minister pointed out that hotel capacity in Egypt will witness an increase during the current year, reaching about 9,000 new rooms, which will enhance the sector’s ability to absorb the expected increase in the number of tourists.
