Giza Governor: 60 violations of microbuses were issued for dividing traffic routes and collecting excessive fares.

Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, confirmed that the Service and Public Transport Authority was able to detect 60 various violations, including dividing the route, collecting an increased fare, and parking in random parking lots, during five surprise inspection campaigns carried out on Saturday and Sunday in the areas of the end of Faisal, and the gates of Hadayek Al-Ahram, Al-Munib, Al-Hawamdiya, and Al-Warraq. The governor pointed out that these campaigns came within the framework of careful daily monitoring of the extent of drivers’ commitment to the new ride tariffs and official itineraries, and to firmly confront any attempts to exploit citizens or violate the regulatory rules.

The campaigns were led by Major General Hazem Lashin, head of the Service and Public Transport Agency, and Major Fawzi Gad, deputy head of the agency, and in coordination. With the General Traffic Department, efforts resulted in taking the necessary legal measures against violators, while warning drivers to adhere to the instructions to avoid penalties that may amount to towing or impounding the car in the event of a repeat violation. During the campaigns, passengers were also communicated to raise awareness about not paying any additional amounts beyond the official tariff affixed to the front sticker of the car, and to immediately report any violation, noting that the phone numbers of parking managers are available inside the official fare stickers. The Governor of Giza confirmed that the governorate continues to implement intensive daily campaigns to control the mass transportation system and achieve discipline within the parking lots and routes, stressing that the priority of work during the current period is to ensure the comfort of citizens and not exploit them, with full commitment to the official tariff and the quality of service provided to citizens.
