World Food Week/event "Alternative proteins" Enhancing the innovation system in the sector
Abu Dhabi, October 20 / WAM / The ADNEC Group, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, is organizing the “Alternative Proteins” event, as part of the World Food Week, which begins tomorrow at the ADNEC Abu Dhabi Center and continues until October 23.
The alternative proteins event aims to enhance the innovation system in the food sector and provide a global platform that brings together an elite group of innovators, food and beverage companies, regulators, investors, academic institutions and specialized service providers in the sector with the aim of accelerating the shift towards more innovative and sustainable food production systems.
Ahmed Shaker, CEO of Capital 360 and Capital Events of the ADNEC Group, said that cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to organize the “Alternative Proteins” event during World Food Week represents an important step in supporting national efforts aimed at enhancing food security, as innovation in the food sector plays a pivotal role in supporting the food system, achieving self-sufficiency and building a more sustainable future in the food sectors. Agriculture, and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in innovation and investment in strategic sectors such as alternative foods.
For her part, Fatima Al Dhaheri, Director of the Food and Water Availability Development Complex (AGWA) of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, said that by organizing the “Alternative Proteins” event within World Food Week 2025, Abu Dhabi is leading the innovation process in developing and employing modern food solutions, pointing out that this event is a unique global platform that embodies the success of the Food and Water Availability Development Complex in unifying efforts. Innovators, regulators and investors are under one umbrella, which contributes to accelerating the pace of innovation and enhancing the sustainability of the sector, and also consolidates Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center where investments meet pioneering ideas to build an effective and integrated food system that supports achieving food security locally and globally.
The Alternative Proteins Event provides a global platform to discuss challenges and opportunities in the field of alternative proteins, by focusing on four strategic axes that include: harmonizing regulations to accelerate the entry of innovative products into markets, facilitating access to financing to support the growth of companies and enabling them to expand globally from Abu Dhabi, exploring the role of innovative foods in supporting global and local food security, and enhancing cooperation. World Food Week 2025 is a comprehensive platform to showcase the latest innovations in the food sector, including plant proteins, processed meats, and laboratory-produced proteins.
