The death toll from Mexico’s floods has risen to 76 dead and 27 missing

The country’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, explained that the emergency response is still ongoing, noting the start of distributing financial aid worth 10 billion pesos to about 100,000 affected families.
The states of Hidalgo and Veracruz are the most affected. Damage caused by Heavy rain and landslides isolated 119 towns and destroyed roads.
More than 12,700 army and naval soldiers were deployed to provide aid, while the Meteorological Authority attributed the cause of the disaster to a tropical depression over the Gulf of Mexico that collided with a cold air front coming from the north.
