5.1 million passengers passed through Sharjah Airport during the third quarter, a growth of 16.7%

Sharjah, 22 October / WAM / Sharjah Airport announced recording a high operational performance during the third quarter of the current year 2025, which showed continued growth in air traffic, travel and air cargo, as the total number of passengers increased to 5,127,120 passengers, compared to 4,392,000 during the same period of the year 2024, bringing the growth rate to 16.7%, which confirms the airport’s position as a major destination across the world. At the local and international levels, while the number of scheduled and unscheduled flights reached 30,737 flights, compared to 27,758 flights during the third quarter of last year, an increase of 10.7%.
In terms of freight, the airport continued its positive performance, as the quantities of air freight handled through Sharjah Airport reached 48,073 tons, compared to 46,284 tons during the same period in 2024, an increase of 3.9%. Sea-air freight also achieved remarkable growth, recording 4,296 tons, compared to 3,236 tons during the past year, a percentage increase. It reached 32.8%.
His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, confirmed that the positive results achieved by the airport during the third quarter of this year reflect the continuous growth in its various operational operations, which enhances the vital role it plays in supporting the aviation sector, keeping pace with the future growth plans of the Emirate of Sharjah and confirming its position as a preferred destination at the regional and international levels.
He added that this outstanding performance is the result of an integrated vision that focuses on investing in infrastructure development and expanding capacity, in addition to applying digital transformation and technical innovation to ensure the efficiency of services and improve the passenger experience, pointing to the continued implementation of development plans and projects that contribute to consolidating Sharjah Airport’s position as a major hub for air transport and logistics services.
In this context, Sharjah Airport continues to implement its ambitious strategy aimed at enhancing air transport and increasing the number of passengers, through developing services, facilitating procedures, and expanding the network of destinations to meet the needs of various global markets. It also pays special attention to developing air and sea-air freight services and improving handling facilities, in addition to supporting transit traffic, which contributes to raising the efficiency of operational operations and enhancing connectivity between destinations.
The airport is also working to improve the travel experience by adopting innovative digital solutions that combine comfort and flow, and developing an integrated service system that keeps pace with the aspirations of travelers and airlines.
