President Sisi receives the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, today, Kaya Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, at his residence in the Belgian capital, Brussels, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, the European Union Ambassador to Egypt, and a number of senior officials. The Union.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President expressed, at the beginning of the meeting, his appreciation for the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, stressing the importance of strengthening consultation and coordination between the two sides in various fields, especially political and security, in a way that serves the interests of the Middle East region and the European Union alike.

He stressed that the situation in the Middle East is witnessing increasing turmoil, Egypt is committed to a balanced policy aimed at establishing security and stability away from narrow interests, which has proven successful over the past years. He also pointed out that Egyptian efforts contributed to reducing illegal immigration to Europe, as no boats have left the Egyptian coast since September 2016, at a time when Egypt hosts about ten million foreigners displaced from countries suffering from crises and conflicts, stressing that addressing the roots of these crises is the best way to reduce the phenomenon.

The official spokesman added that the meeting discussed Egypt’s efforts to resolve crises and achieve stability. In the region, with an emphasis on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and stopping foreign interference. The Egyptian role in reaching the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip was also reviewed, in cooperation with the mediators, and the aspiration to cooperate with the European Union, to implement the agreement and the plan of US President Donald Trump, with a focus on consolidating the ceasefire, ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid and starting the reconstruction of the Strip, in addition to the ongoing preparations for the international conference hosted by Egypt in November 2025 on reconstruction and recovery.

From For her part, Ms. Callas expressed the European Union’s appreciation for the active Egyptian role in achieving calm and stability in Gaza, Sudan and Libya, stressing that President Trump’s plan represents a positive step, and that the European Union looks forward to participating in its implementation and supporting Gaza reconstruction efforts through the upcoming conference in Cairo.

The European official also stressed the importance of establishing a ceasefire and settling the crises in Sudan and Libya on foundations that preserve the unity of the two countries. And the integrity of their territories, noting the need to end the war in Ukraine in accordance with the principles of international law. She expressed the European Union’s appreciation for the great Egyptian efforts in combating illegal immigration, stressing the Union’s support for the path of stability and development in migration-sending countries.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination between Egypt and the European Union on water and security issues in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa region, in a way that maintains regional security and respects international law.
