Latifa bint Mohammed honors award winners "Mohammed bin Rashid for the Arabic language" At its ninth session

Dubai, 22nd October / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, today (Wednesday) honored the winners of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Award for the Arabic Language”, organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, and within the ninth session of the award.
The honor comes as an affirmation of the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to the status of the Arabic language as a foundation of identity and culture, and an embodiment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to empower the Arabic language and expand the horizons of its use locally and globally.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the importance of the Arabic language in shaping identity and the human cognitive heritage, pointing out that it is the language of originality, heritage, creativity and innovation. Her Highness said: “Arabic is the language of science and literature, and one of the most prominent pillars of human civilization, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Award for the Arabic Language reflects the unique forward-looking thought of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.” And his efforts to enhance its position among the world’s languages as a living language capable of leading the future. The award highlights the ability of the Arabic language to keep pace with rapid technological and cognitive developments, and embodies our commitment to preserving and advancing this great language. It also highlights Dubai’s initiatives supporting the Arabic language, contributes to increasing global appreciation for it and raising awareness of its aesthetics, and calls on communities to rediscover it as a tool for communication. And an engine for innovation.”
Her Highness added: “We are proud of the level of participation in this session, and of the growing momentum of the award year after year. The demand we are witnessing today for the award is a sincere expression of the deep belief that Arabic is not just a language, but rather an identity and a common cultural and human heritage that is passed down through generations.”
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, said: “The Award represents a practical embodiment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to enhance the global presence of the Arabic language, as a strategic tool to encourage excellence in all areas of the language, including education, technology, media, and linguistic policies.”
His Excellency added: “Since the launch of the award, we have been keen to make it a global platform for recognizing creativity and innovation in the service of the Arabic language. The ninth edition confirms this path, with entries that reflect the depth of influence and the breadth of interest in the Arabic language around the world.”
For his part, His Excellency Bilal Al-Badour, Secretary-General of the Award, said: “The global momentum in participation reflects a growing awareness of the value of the Arabic language as a civilizational and cultural bridge. We received contributions from institutions and individuals from 65 countries, and this is evidence that the Award has become a point of attraction for those interested in Arabic on various continents.”
His Excellency added: “Every participating project reflects a true commitment to protecting the Arabic language from marginalization, and enhancing its position as an effective component in shaping the future.”
In its ninth session, the award honored the “Miss Alif” initiative, in the category of the best initiative for teaching and learning the Arabic language in early education, from the United Arab Emirates.
In the second category of the education axis, the category of the best initiative to teach the Arabic language to non-native speakers, the “Fasih Institute” initiative to teach the Arabic language to non-native speakers” won from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
As for the third category of the same axis, which is the category of the best initiative for teaching in the Arabic language in school education (from first to twelfth grade), the “Abjadiyat” initiative from the United Arab Emirates won.
In the technology category, the first category, the category of the best smart application for the Arabic language and its dissemination, the “Learn” initiative from Lebanon won.
In the second category of the same axis, which is the category of the best initiative to address the Arabic language technically, the “Arabi Tools” initiative (software tools to serve the Arabic language in Python and Java) won from Palestine.
In the media and communication axis, the category of best work in the Arabic language in electronic media and social media channels, the “Majarra” application from the United Arab Emirates won.
In the field of linguistic policy, planning and Arabization, in the category of the best Arabization or translation project, the initiative to translate the book on the rational management of antimicrobials from the Arab Republic of Egypt won.
In the axis of culture, thought and knowledge society, the first category, which is the category of the best cultural or artistic work to serve the Arabic language, was won by “Student Behavior Management Plays” (Values and Principles), from the Sultanate of Oman.
As for the second category in this axis, which is the category of the best initiative to promote the culture of reading and the knowledge society, it was won by the “Ayyam al-Arabiya” festival, from the United Arab Emirates.
Finally, the winner of the Distinguished International Personality Award: researcher Adiba Romero Sanchez from Spain.
The award allocates financial prizes with a total value of up to 2.8 million UAE dirhams, distributed to the winners in various axes, with the aim of stimulating innovation and enhancing competitiveness in projects that serve the Arabic language. Since its establishment, the award has honored more than 80 winners from around the world, and has contributed to developing a fertile environment to support influential and sustainable linguistic initiatives.
Through this award, Dubai continues to affirm its pivotal role as a center for cultural and knowledge innovation, and an incubator for pioneering initiatives that serve the Arabic language and link it to the future of humanity, drawing from the vision of its wise leadership and the firm belief that the language is the gateway to comprehensive development.
