The Egyptian Minister of Health to the World Health Representative: We have all the medical preparations to treat Palestinian patients

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting today, Thursday, with Dr. Nima Abed, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, to discuss and coordinate joint efforts between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to provide the necessary health services to sick and wounded Palestinian brothers, in light of the fruitful cooperation between the two sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed the Egyptian state’s commitment to providing all aspects of medical support to our brothers. Palestinians, noting that the Egyptian state has received a large number of sick and wounded since the outbreak of the crisis, and has been keen to provide them with the necessary health services and coordinate with the World Health Organization to ensure the sustainability of this care.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the Minister confirmed during the meeting the readiness of hospitals in North Sinai Governorate to receive the wounded and patients coming from the Gaza Strip, pointing out that The presence of a huge work group to follow up on the progress of work in the field in the governorate, and to determine the availability of all medical equipment and capabilities necessary to receive the infected.
The official spokesman confirmed the availability of a sufficient stock of medicines, medical supplies, and blood bags, as well as the availability of precise medical specialties, including orthopedic surgery, blood vessels, plastic surgery, and other various medical specialties, also confirming the readiness of the quarantine teams. Abdul Ghaffar continued: During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing logistical and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, to secure the urgent health needs of patients and injured people, adding that the meeting dealt with a review of the challenges that may face the system of receiving infected people, with a focus on developing quick and effective solutions to ensure the continuity of efficient provision of medical services.
Abdul Ghaffar noted: To the Minister’s emphasis on the importance of unifying efforts and achieving integration between ministries, concerned authorities and international organizations, whether with regard to providing medical services to the injured or delivering relief aid, in a way that ensures the continued provision of humanitarian support to our Palestinian brothers in the best possible way.
For his part, Dr. Nima Abed, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Population in Supporting the injured in both the Gaza Strip and Sudan, stressing the continuation of close cooperation between the organization and the Ministry to provide the necessary health and humanitarian support.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Peter Wagih, Assistant Minister of Health for Curative Medicine Affairs, Dr. Sherif Mustafa, Assistant Minister for National Projects, Dr. Sherif Wadie, Advisor to the Minister for Emergency and Urgent Care Affairs, and Dr. Amr Rashid, Head of the Ambulance Authority. Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers, Dr. Suzanne Zanati, Director General of the General Administration of External Health Relations, and Dr. Zainab Al-Sadr, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health. From the organization’s side, Dr. Omar Abu Al-Atta, Leader of the Emergency Team at the World Health Organization in Egypt, Dr. Salma Siddiq, Public Health Coordinator at the World Health Organization in Egypt, Dr. Karim Abu Zaid, an emergency field official at the World Health Organization in Egypt, and Dr. Ahmed Anas, Information Management Officer, were present.
