The President of the Republic of Italy opens the Treasures of the Pharaohs exhibition

Today Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic of Italy, opened the “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition. The event will be held in the Scuderie del Quirinale Hall of the Italian Presidency in Rome, in the presence of Sherif Fathi, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Alessandro Joli, Italian Minister of Culture, Ambassador Bassam Rady, Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Mohamed Shaaban, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Transformation, and Dr. Tarek. Al-Awadi, supervisor of the exhibition, and a number of Italian ministers, senior museum directors, and cultural figures.
The opening ceremony witnessed widespread media coverage from news agencies, television channels, and international and Italian newspapers, which reflects the extent of global interest in this unique exhibition, and the extent of appreciation that ancient Egyptian civilization enjoys in cultural awareness.
In his speech during the opening, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, expressed his deep gratitude for the fruitful cooperation that brought together the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Scuderia del Quirinale Exhibition House under the supervision of Dr. Tariq Al-Awadi, stressing that this exhibition represents the result of years of joint work between the two sides, noting that the selection of 130 archaeological pieces from Egyptian archaeological collections, not only for their beauty, but for their ability to embody the essence of ancient Egypt, that civilization in which arts, faith, and life were one entity.
He added that the exhibition<<is not a reconstruction of the past, but rather a live dialogue with it, as the statues, masks, and papyri were made to defy oblivion, as each piece carries a message. Khalida says that existence can be immortalized with care, knowledge and art.
He explained that displaying these treasures in Rome represents an act of cultural participation and rapprochement, expressing his hope that visitors will feel what archaeologists feel every time they discover a statue from three thousand years ago, as that feeling, which transcends the boundaries of history, is what unites us. Today.
Following the opening ceremony, His Excellency the Italian President of the Republic, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Italian Minister of Culture toured the various exhibition halls, during which they listened to a detailed explanation from the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Dr. Christian Girko, Director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, about the most important artifacts on display and the artistic aspects they represent. It is spiritual and reflects the depth of ancient Egyptian civilization and its eternal splendor.
