Egypt, led by President Sisi, re-establishes its African affiliation

The features of African affiliation are renewed in Egyptian foreign policy, as the political leadership has placed the African continent at the heart of the state’s priorities. In recognition of the strategic and humanitarian depth it represents for Egypt, and the promising development opportunities it possesses that require concerted efforts and the exchange of experiences.
The President of the Republic, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has been keen since 2014; Egypt’s return to Africa should be effective and influential, based on joint development, not slogans, and on projects that make a real difference in the life of the African citizen. In this context, the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has become one of the prominent executive arms of this vision, through financing and managing development projects in various countries of the continent that reflect the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility.
Among these projects, the Egyptian project to drill 75 groundwater wells in Uganda stands out, which was completed. Its implementation, with the aim of providing pure and safe drinking water to Ugandan citizens in remote areas that were suffering from a severe shortage of usable water.
This project came within the framework of technical cooperation between Egypt and Uganda, with the active participation of the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Egyptian Irrigation Mission in Uganda. To reflect the integration between governmental and technical efforts in serving common humanitarian and development goals on the African continent. The wells were equipped with manual and solar-powered pumps to ensure sustainable operation, and their depths ranged between 20 and 30 meters, to ensure access to pure groundwater.
Each well serves about 100 families, or about 800 individuals. Which provided a permanent and safe water source and contributed to improving living and health conditions within local communities.
This project embodies the humanitarian dimension in Egyptian policy towards the mother continent, and confirms that what is happening on the ground in the Nile Basin countries is not just technical cooperation, but a practical embodiment of a comprehensive vision whose foundations were laid by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, based on partnership for development and belonging for the future, so that Egypt remains as it has always been, the heart of Egypt. A vibrant Africa and its support in times of need.
