المملكة: For a world free of polio…the Kingdom provides health projects worth half a billion dollars


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, highlights its global position in supporting the health sector and combating epidemics and diseases, through its celebration of World Diabetes Day , which falls on the twenty-fourth of October every year.

This comes as an embodiment of its keenness to contribute to building a world free of this

Combat polio

Within the framework of combating polio in countries in need, the Kingdom signed two agreements during the year 2025 Providing more than (500) million US dollars to protect (370) million children annually from polio.

The first agreement during which an amount of (300) million US dollars was provided in support of the efforts of the World Health Organization in high-risk countries, including preventive and technical activities, and epidemiological and therapeutic investigations that aim to eliminate the polio virus in endemic areas in the targeted countries, especially in And Afghanistan.

In addition to supporting national programs in countries that are close to eradicating polio, and supporting global efforts to strengthen the health sector in the targeted countries by improving preventive programs and providing all necessary aids and inputs to eradicate the virus.

Health care centers

While the second agreement provided (200) million US dollars to support the efforts of the United Nations Children’s Fund. (UNICEF) in high-risk countries, including a variety of basic activities, including supporting supply and cold chains by purchasing vaccines, containers, and solar-powered refrigerators, in addition to supporting primary health care centers and vaccination campaigns and ensuring community support through health education campaigns.

The Kingdom, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, participates in Celebrating World Polio Day; With the aim of contributing to international efforts to eradicate polio from the world once and for all, reducing its severe consequences on individuals and societies, and raising awareness of the severe health effects it causes.
