"Sharjah Heritage Institute" He is looking into strengthening academic cooperation with Zhejiang University in China

Hanzhou (China) October 25, WAM / A delegation from the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, headed by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of the Institute, today visited Zhejiang University of Science and Commerce in the Chinese city of Hanzhou and met with Professor Mao Qiuhong, Vice President of the University, and a number of members of the College of Oriental Languages ​​and Philosophy, within the framework of the academic partnership extending since 2016, which aims to support the Arabic Language Center and develop its educational programs.

The Institute had provided continuous academic and cultural support to Zhejiang University over a period of nine years, by providing its library with dozens of publications specialized in Arab heritage and culture, making it an important reference for scholars in the fields of the Arabic language and humanities.

The university’s faculty members expressed their appreciation for the Institute’s role in enriching Arabic content within Chinese educational institutions, valuing its contributions to empowering the Center for Arabic Language and Emirati-Chinese Cultural Exchange since its establishment in 2017.

Al-Musallam stressed the importance of academic cooperation with Zhejiang University, noting that the institute offers Chinese language courses within its educational programs in cooperation with professors from the university in the context of exchanging experiences and deepening linguistic and cultural communication between the two peoples. He noted that the two sides are working to expand areas of cooperation to include scientific research, training cadres, and documenting intangible heritage, which contributes to strengthening joint efforts to preserve heritage and develop specialized studies.

Since 2016, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam has held the position of “visiting professor” at Zhejiang University. He was promoted to the rank of associate professor three years ago in recognition of his academic standing and contributions to the development of heritage studies. He participated in a number of research programs within the university, including projects in translation, tea culture, and cultural exchange between the UAE and China.

The “Center for Arabic Language and Chinese-Emirati Cultural Exchange” is the result of cooperation between the Institute and the University and constitutes an effective platform for dialogue and cultural rapprochement between the two countries by organizing annual events such as “Chinese Culture Week in Sharjah” and mutual courses in the Arabic and Chinese languages, which reflects a pioneering model of cultural cooperation between two institutions linked by a common vision to strengthen bridges of knowledge between the Arab and Chinese civilizations.
