6.5 tons of cocaine were seized in a ship off the coast of the Spanish Canary Islands

The Spanish police seized it off the The Canaryon a commercial ship carrying six and a half tons of cocaine, and arrested its nine crew members, police announced today.
The US Drug Enforcement Agency had previously provided vital information that allowed the seizure to be successful. Spanish Police seized quantities of drugs in October 2024, amounting to 13 tons of Cocaineat the port of the island in the Andalusia region in southern Spain, hidden in a cargo container.
Anti-drug experts consider Spain to be a major gateway for cocaine to enter Europe due to its geographical location.
