The Egyptian Commercial Representation launches a training program for Omani commercial attachés

Within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Commercial Representation and the Omani Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion last February, the Minister, Trade Commissioner Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Sharif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation – Today, at the agency’s headquarters in Cairo, the training program for Omani commercial attachés is underway, in the presence of the Omani technical delegation.

 

The program aims to enhance institutional cooperation and exchange technical expertise between the two sides in the areas of investment promotion, export development, and the development of the foreign trade representation system, in addition to building institutional capabilities and economic diplomacy, in a way that contributes to supporting economic relations. The head of the Egyptian commercial representation welcomed the honorable Omani technical delegation, stressing that this meeting embodies the depth of the historical and fraternal relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman, and reflects the common will of the leadership of the two countries to advance economic, commercial and investment cooperation relations to broader and broader horizons. He explained that the training program comes as a practical translation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, which represents a qualitative leap in the process of institutional cooperation between the two agencies, as it aims to exchange technical expertise, build institutional capabilities, and enhance partnership in the areas of export promotion, attracting investments, and developing the external trade representation system.

Al-Sherif stressed that Egyptian commercial representation – Which has a history spanning more than six decades – It plays a pivotal role in supporting the national economy through its network of offices spread in more than 60 countries around the world, which represents the state’s arm in implementing its foreign trade and investment policies.

He pointed out that this network contributed to opening new markets for Egyptian exports and attracting direct foreign investments in strategic sectors, which strengthened Egypt’s position as a regional and global industrial and logistics center.

He added that The training program for Omani commercial attachés includes lectures and workshops presented by an elite group of Egyptian commercial ministers and plenipotentiaries, covering various institutional, technical, and applied aspects related to the work of commercial representation. It also includes field visits to the General Authority of the Suez Canal, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, and an introductory session on export councils, to provide the Omani delegation with the opportunity to learn directly about The Egyptian experience in managing the export and investment support system and linking it to state institutions and the private sector.

 

Enhancing economic cooperation between Cairo and Muscat

 

Al-Sharif pointed out that the economic relations between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman have witnessed, in recent years, increasing momentum and tangible development, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about 1.3 billion US dollars, explaining that this figure reflects the strength of bilateral relations, but it is still below the level of common ambitions, stressing The two sides look forward to doubling the volume of trade exchange during the next stage by strengthening investment partnerships and expanding the base of mutual exports.

 

The head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority also praised the efforts of the Omani Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion in developing the Sultanate’s external trade representation system in line with Oman’s Vision 2040, which places among its priorities diversification. Sources of income, enhancing economic openness, and building supportive institutional capacities to attract foreign investments.

 

For his part, Minister Plenipotentiary Khalifa bin Rashid Al Shamsi expressed – Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo – He expressed his deep appreciation to the government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and to the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority for the warm reception and good organization, stressing that this program reflects the depth of the historical relations that bind the two brotherly countries, and embodies the keenness of the leadership in the two countries to advance economic and investment cooperation to more comprehensive levels.

 

Al-Shamsi explained that this program It represents an important practical step towards building an integrated institutional partnership between the ministries of trade in the two countries, noting that the Omani side is keen to benefit from the pioneering Egyptian experience in the field of commercial representation and external promotion of exports, due to Egypt’s distinguished expertise and specialized cadres.

 

He added that such training programs contribute to exchanging knowledge and experiences and enhancing Integration between government institutions in the two countries, which reflects positively on the volume of trade and investment exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt, stressing the aspiration of the embassy and the Omani Ministry to continue this constructive cooperation in all fields.
