"A festival of excitement and suspense" It brings together an elite group of international mystery literature makers "Sharjah Book 2025"

Sharjah, 27 October / WAM / Returns to the activities of the “Sharjah International Book Fair” 2025, the fourth session of the “Festival of Thrill and Suspense”, which will be held from 8-11 November next at the Expo Center Sharjah in cooperation with the “Festival of Thrill and Suspense in New York”.
The festival hosts 13 regional and international writers and experts and brings together international literary voices from writers of crime, mystery and psychological suspense.
This year’s edition of the festival brings together a group of the most famous suspense and suspense writers in the world from North America, South Asia, Europe and Africa, including the Canadian writer Jennifer Hillier, winner of several awards, and from the United States the American writer Chris Pavone, along with the writer Stacey Willingham, author of “A Flash in the Dark”, whose sales in North America exceeded one million copies, and they will also be joined from the United States. Daniel J. Miller is the author of the “Red Letter” series along with novelist and screenwriter Matt Witten.
From Europe, the festival hosts writer Ragnar Jonsson and writer Eva Björg Egisdóttir, two stars of Scandinavian crime literature, who present their visions about crime literature, Scandinavian detective novels, and the art of tension. From the United Kingdom, the festival welcomes writer Armanta Hall, along with writer Clare Whitfield, who presents sessions on building the psychological depth of characters and the element of surprise in… The plot.
South Asia will be represented at the festival by the Indian writer Syed Hussain Zaidi, one of the most prominent writers who tracked and documented the underworld in Mumbai, along with the Pakistani writer Omar Shahid Hamid, a former counter-terrorism officer, who will present their visions on transforming real crimes into works of fiction. The festival will also host the writer Mirna Al Mahdi, who enhances the Arab region’s contribution to the literature of mystery, excitement and suspense. The world.
In this year’s session, the festival presents “Crime in the Majlis”, an interactive theatrical performance about crime and mystery literature set in Sharjah, written by American University of Sharjah graduate Bhumika Jagadda and directed by Tarun Shyam. The work showcases the power of local storytelling and interactive community theater with the participation of students from the American University of Sharjah, as it invites the audience to contribute to solving the crime directly during the show, which combines suspense and cooperation in an experience. Over the course of four days, the festival presents a program full of sessions, workshops, and book signing sessions, covering all aspects of writing novels of suspense and excitement, from developing characters, the aspect of anticipation and tension during narration, to transforming novels into cinematic films.
The Sharjah International Book Fair brings together 2,350 publishers and exhibitors from 118 countries and presents more than 1,200 events with the participation of 251 guests from 66 countries, including 300 events within the cultural program and 750 workshops for children and adults, strengthening its position as one of the most influential literary gatherings in the world.
