Spain’s delegate to the Security Council: We support the Gaza Reconstruction Conference and continue to work with partners to promote peace
Spain affirmed its full support for the Gaza Strip Reconstruction Conference, which Egypt will host next month, noting the need to harmonize efforts and mobilize the necessary resources to ensure the success of the reconstruction process.
Spain’s permanent representative to the Security Council said – during a session dedicated to discussing developments in the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, today, Monday – that “the stage “The current situation represents a real opportunity to prevent a new spiral of violence in the region… Spain will continue to work with its regional partners to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.”
He stressed the need to support the Palestinian Authority and prevent its economic collapse, adding: Empowering the Palestinian Authority, restoring its role in the West Bank, and providing basic services in the Gaza Strip represent a basic condition for achieving actual progress, explaining that Israel’s freezing of funds owed to the Palestinian Authority exacerbated the financial crisis.
