The Ministry of Education revealed a comprehensive organization for student evaluation People with disabilities in all institutes, centers, programs and integration classes.
She stressed that the evaluation mechanisms depend on the specificity of each category of disability, in accordance with the executive procedures for the student evaluation regulations in general education, in a way that ensures educational justice and takes into account the individual abilities and potentials of each student.
The Ministry indicated that the evaluation includes the use of written, oral, and practical tests to measure the student’s performance in the field of targeted information, in addition to observation methods, check-off lists, and behavior assessment to measure the skills and behaviors required according to the needs of each student.
It has become clear that evaluation of its various types is used to ensure the level of performance, progress, or academic stability, taking into account that Evaluation tools and methods are appropriate to the nature of the disability for each category.
The Ministry confirmed that the student Those with disabilities are given sufficient time that suits their abilities and capabilities during the evaluation process, and tests can be conducted in appropriate places, whether individually or in groups, depending on the nature of their condition.
It is also possible, when necessary, not to adhere to the specified evaluation dates, provided that this is coordinated with the school administration.
She explained that The evaluation processcan be carried out using the formative evaluation method for each student according to his abilities, and if it is not possible to use the specific tools and methods, the teacher can evaluate his students in the way he deems appropriate for their characteristics and needs, with grades distributed in a manner consistent with those characteristics, in coordination with the school administration.
The Ministry stressed the importance of taking into account cases in which a student has multiple disabilities, so that appropriate evaluation methods are taken into account for each case. For example, a blind student who suffers from learning difficulties, or a student with a hearing or mental disability who faces communication disorders, is subject to customized evaluation tools that take into account these aspects.
One test per day
It also confirmed that it is not permissible for a student with a disability to be tested in more than one written subject per day, while giving him sufficient time to answer questions and provide appropriate support, and that students with multiple disabilities are evaluated according to their abilities and needs specified in the individual educational plans.
The Ministry added that the scientific material can be divided into small parts according to the abilities of each student, and if he does not benefit from what is presented in the general classroom, he will be evaluated in the content of the individual educational plan that is prepared in coordination between the special education teacher and the subject teacher.
Student exemption
If it is not possible to evaluate some students with disabilities in certain skills such as chanting, intonation, listening, or speaking, it is permitted to redistribute the skill grade in the same subject in proportion to the type of disability. The student can also be exempted from evaluation of skills based on abstract concepts when necessary.
The Ministry of Education concluded by emphasizing that the special education teacher supervises all evaluation processes in cooperation with the general education teacher, to ensure the accuracy of procedures and achieve educational and pedagogical goals in accordance with students’ abilities and individual needs, and enhances the comprehensiveness and quality of the educational process for all groups of people with disabilities.
