Emirates Media announces the issuance of 3,000 “advertiser” permits to applicants from 80 nationalities.

The Emirates Media Council revealed the issuance of more than 3,000 “advertiser” permits to applicants from more than 80 nationalities, in a step that reflects the great demand to join the new media regulation system in the country, which aims to empower content creators, preserve their rights, and enhance the credibility of electronic advertising.
The Secretary-General of the Emirates Media Council, Mohammed Al Shehhi, said during a session entitled “The Future of Media Legislation” within the activities of the Emirati Media Forum held at the Museum of the Future in Dubai, that the “Advertiser” statement came in response to the transformations taking place in the advertising sector, as it aims to regulate advertisements submitted by individuals and content makers on digital platforms, indicating that the statement preserves the rights of advertisers and content makers. It sets clear standards for advertising practices.
He added that the Council is currently working with a number of federal agencies and departments to establish special controls for health, real estate and financial advertisements provided by content makers, and stressed that anyone who provides guidance or advertising content in these areas must possess the necessary qualifications and knowledge to ensure the protection and trust of the public.
He explained that the Council has worked since its establishment to create a new legislative system for the media sector in the country, explaining that the system that was developed between 2023 and 2025 is the largest legislative development process in the history of the country.
He pointed out that the legislative work included the media regulation law, 3 Cabinet decisions, 6 media policies, and a number of guidelines, stressing that coordination is ongoing and permanent with the various emirates of the country to ensure integrated efforts and unified directions.
Al Shehhi stressed that the new legislative system is distinguished by its flexibility and proactiveness, and has also granted expanded economic powers to the local emirates, enhancing their ability to attract international media companies and institutions, which contributes to the growth and diversification of the national media sector.
He added that the Council is responsible for monitoring media content, especially foreign media, to ensure uniformity of standards at the state level, while most licenses of an economic nature have been transferred to local authorities in each emirate.
