The start of the FinSwimming World Cup – Abu Dhabi 2025

Abu Dhabi, 1st November / WAM / The 2025 FinSwimming World Cup competitions kicked off today at the Abu Dhabi Aquatic Club, with a wide participation of more than 400 male and female swimmers representing 21 countries, competing in various categories.
The first day’s competitions witnessed Emirati brilliance, with male and female players from the Abu Dhabi Aquatic Sports Club achieving colorful medals, as Ahmed Hisham Safwat won a historic gold in the 400-meter double fin swimming race for the general category, men (18 years old).
In the 50m double fin swimming race, swimmer Saif Khaled Mohammed won the silver medal, and Ahmed Hisham Safwat won the bronze medal.
In the girls’ 50m swimming category, Maryam Jalal won the bronze medal.
In the 800-meter swimming event, Mohab Ihab Helmy won the silver medal.

The opening was witnessed and the winners were crowned by Abdullah Al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Emirates Water Sports Federation’s Steering Committee, Sameh Al Shazly, Member of the International Water Sports Federation, President of the Egyptian Diving and Rescue Federation, and Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in the presence of Saeed Al Ajel, President of the Emirates Sports for All Federation, His Excellency Brigadier General Dr. Omar Mohammed Al Khayal, Director of the Police Sports Federation, and Alexandros Sarkos, Chairman of the Fin Swimming Committee of the International Underwater Sports Federation. And members of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club, Khuwaiter Al Dhaheri, Ahmed Khalfan Al Jahouri, and Fatima Al Ameri.
Abdullah Al Wahaibi expressed his happiness with the strong start of the Fin Swimming World Cup competitions in Abu Dhabi, considering it a new testimony to the capital’s hosting of major international events, and the quality of organization after the event came out in a distinguished manner.
Al Wahaibi pointed out in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the participation of the people of the Emirates with the world champions in the competitions of this tournament is a unique opportunity to support them and gain more experience, pointing out that the tournament is capable of showing promising champions from different age levels.
For his part, Sameh Al-Shazly stressed his pride in what the competitions of the first day of the tournament showed in all aspects, whether at the level of organization or the technical levels that appeared, pointing out that the Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club, with its advanced infrastructure, is capable of hosting more of these global championships.
He pointed out that the International Federation of Water Sports is proud of the appearance of the tournament, which confirms the great confidence that the UAE has when organizing major events and activities.
Khuwaiter Al Dhaheri said that the Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club always works to show the honorable image of water sports in the Emirates, and its hosting of this major event is an affirmation of its role in supporting the game, discovering promising talents, and working to develop them in line with the importance of water sports.
He added: The Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club is proud to organize this global event in the UAE because of its advanced infrastructure capable of hosting more international championships.
