The Mufti of the Republic discusses with the Governor of Damietta the establishment of a branch of Dar Al-Ifta in the governorate

 The Mufti of the Republic, Dr. Nazir Ayyad, confirmed that the role of the Egyptian Fatwa House is no longer limited, as it was in the minds of some, to merely surveying the crescent of the lunar months, but rather it has become a comprehensive role that includes multiple educational, awareness-raising, cultural, and social tasks, noting that the House receives hundreds of inquiries daily through its various departments, which include oral, telephone, and electronic fatwas.

This came during the visit of the Mufti of the Republic. To Damietta Governorate, he was received by the Governor of Damietta, Dr. Ayman Rashad Al-Shehabi, on an official visit aimed at deepening the bonds of joint cooperation between Damietta Governorate and the Egyptian Fatwa House, and discussing ways to support advocacy and community work in the governorate, in order to achieve the mission of the fatwa in serving the Egyptian citizen, enhancing his awareness, and building his psychological and family stability. His Eminence will also deliver a speech at the scientific symposium held by the University Damietta.

 

The meeting witnessed the discussion of a number of current files that reflect the importance of employing the pioneering role played by the Egyptian House of Fatwa, as one of the most prominent religious institutions in the Islamic world in serving pressing societal issues and enhancing public awareness. They also discussed the possibility of establishing a branch of the Egyptian House of Fatwa in Damietta Governorate, to represent an important center that combines scientific, training, and community tasks, and provides integrated legal services that meet the needs of Citizens.

 

 

His Eminence the Mufti of the Republic explained that Dar Al-Iftaa works to confront the phenomena of extremism, extremism, and Islamophobia through the Salam Center for Studies and the Dar Al-Iftaa Observatory for takfiri and abnormal fatwas, in addition to its major social role in resolving family and financial disputes between individuals, institutions and companies, stressing that all of this is done according to an integrated vision that seeks to spread rational religious awareness and build human beings.

 

His Eminence the Mufti indicated that Dar Al-Iftaa looks forward to its branch in Damietta Governorate having an active role in transferring these experiences and services to citizens in the governorate, warning of the danger of receiving information from inaccurate and unreliable technological sources that lack objectivity and credibility, at a time when the sources of knowledge foundation represented by the mosque, school, book, and family have declined, stressing that the speed of access to information through modern means has disrupted the minds of some individuals. On research, investigation, and accuracy in obtaining correct knowledge, stressing the necessity of building a disciplined cognitive awareness based on critical thinking and distinguishing between truth and falsehood.

 

For his part, the Governor of Damietta welcomed His Eminence the Mufti of the Republic, expressing his happiness at his coming to the governorate, praising his educational and awareness-raising role in serving society in general, and youth in particular, stressing the importance of returning to reliable sources in obtaining information, especially in What he described as a crisis of awareness caused by the spread of false information through modern media remained, stressing his full readiness to establish a branch of the Egyptian Fatwa House in the governorate, and to provide all means of support for that. To be a beacon of knowledge and awareness, and an essential pillar in promoting moderate values, and spreading the culture of dialogue and rational knowledge building among the people of the governorate.

 

At the conclusion of the visit, the Governor of Damietta presented the governorate’s shield to His Eminence the Mufti of the Republic; In appreciation of His Eminence’s efforts in spreading awareness, correcting concepts, and building enlightened thought.
