Absence before central exams is double absence

Public and private school administrations that implement the Ministry of Education’s curriculum have stressed the importance of student discipline in the remaining school days, commitment to attendance and avoidance of absence during the period preceding the end of the current academic year 2025-2026 exams, scheduled for the period from November 20 to December 4.

She said in a circular addressed to students and parents, the content of which was reviewed by Emirates Today, that the student’s absence before the days of central examinations, as well as absence on Friday without an excuse, will be counted as a double absence (two days), since it precedes an official holiday, which is the weekend, according to what is stipulated in the procedural guide for attendance and absence.

The administrations clarified in their instructions that if a student is late for class without an excuse, or does not attend more than three classes in one day without justification, he will be considered absent for a full day without excuse, even if the student continues to attend the rest of the classes on the same day.

School administrations confirmed that these measures come as part of their efforts to enhance behavioral and academic discipline among students, and to ensure the continuity of the educational process according to the approved plan, especially with the approaching date of central exams and only two weeks remaining until the end of school.

She indicated through the circular that the curriculum in some subjects has not yet been completed, and that the remaining academic weeks will be allocated to finishing the courses and carrying out the final review sessions in preparation for the tests, calling on students to fully commit to attendance and active participation during this important period.

At the conclusion of the circular, school administrations stressed that the commitment to daily attendance is a reflection of the student’s responsibility and seriousness in academic achievement, stressing that the family’s cooperation with the school at this stage contributes to achieving the best educational results and distinguished academic outcomes.
