Etihad Airways launches 4 new destinations in Africa and Asia

Abu Dhabi, November 4, 2017 – Etihad Airways expanded its global network with four new destinations after completing its first flights to Tunisia, Hanoi, Chiang Mai and Hong Kong within three consecutive days.

The new services enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a major hub and gateway to the UAE, and support incoming tourism and trade.

As Etihad Airways continues to expand its network, the company is adding thousands of new seats to and from Abu Dhabi.

The carrier operates three weekly flights to Tunisia, the first of which began on November 1, to meet the growing needs of business flights between the United Arab Emirates and Tunisia.

The carrier’s first flights to Hanoi began on November 2, linking this destination, Abu Dhabi, directly to the Vietnamese capital for the first time, with six weekly flights, which strengthens trade and tourism relations between the two countries.

On November 3, the first flights to Chiang Mai were launched, with the carrier operating four weekly flights to northern Thailand for passengers from the Middle East and Europe via Abu Dhabi.

The Hong Kong flights, which also launched on November 3 as “five weekly flights”, mark Etihad Airways’ return to one of Asia’s leading business and leisure destinations, and coincide with the relaunch of Etihad Airways’ codeshare partnership with Hong Kong Airlines, to enhance connections across Asia.

Antonualdo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: “These new flights expand the options available to guests while attracting more visitors to discover Abu Dhabi. While we continue to contribute to the growth of the UAE’s aviation sector by about half this year, our focus remains on connecting more people, cultures and opportunities through Abu Dhabi.”

The four new routes contribute to expanding Etihad Airways’ network of destinations to include more than 85 destinations, which confirms Etihad’s pivotal role in connecting Abu Dhabi to the world and driving tourism and economic growth in the UAE.
