When will Ronaldo retire from football?

Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo said that he will retire “soon” after the 40-year-old veteran admitted that he had been thinking about this matter for a long time.

Ronaldo is the all-time top scorer in football, with 952 goals with the clubs he played for and his country. The Saudi Al-Nasr player said last month that he aims to score a thousand goals before retiring from the game.

In response to a question about closing the curtain on his career, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said, “Soon.”

He added in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan: “I am ready for this decision, despite its extreme difficulty. But I have prepared for my future since I was 25, 26, or 27 years old. I believe that I will be able to deal with this issue despite its difficulty. There is nothing comparable to the adrenaline you feel when scoring a goal in football. But everything has an end. I will have more time for myself, my family, and to raise my children.”

The former Manchester United striker says he is still following the team’s results despite the end of an unhappy period at the club three years ago. United suffered their worst position in the English Premier League last season since their relegation in the 1973-1974 season, as they finished fifteenth.

Ronaldo said, “I am sad, because United is one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and it is the club that I still love with all my heart. The club’s image has been damaged and I hope that will change immediately because United has amazing potential. Things did not go well with the club. It is not just about the coach and the players. In my opinion (coach Ruben Amorim) is doing his best. But what can he do? The time of miracles is over.”
