The constant specter of injuries threatens Paris Saint-Germain’s season

The specter of injuries still looms over French Paris Saint-Germain after it once again lost the services of two key members of its squad during its confrontation with its German guest, Bayern Munich (1-2), namely its international winger, Ousmane Dembélé, and its Moroccan defender, Achraf Hakimi, on Tuesday in the European Champions League in football, while the rest of the team’s players were not spared from fatigue as well.

Paris Saint-Germain, which did not suffer much from physical problems last season, is no longer able to bear the increasing number of its injured list.

After playing Tuesday’s match against Bayern Munich with an almost complete squad, with the exception of its other international winger, Desiree Doue, who is injured, the Parisian club is now holding its breath over the 2025 Ballon d’Or star and the Moroccan international full-back.

After Douai injured his thigh during a match against Lorient last Wednesday in the French League (1-1), Spanish coach Luis Enrique preferred to focus on “recovering” most of his players recently, but on Tuesday evening he was only able to record more damage.

How far away the smile that appeared on Dembélé’s face at the Chatelet Theater during the Ballon d’Or ceremony on September 22 seems far away. In facing Bayern at the Parc des Princes, his face was frowning. The reason was not his goal that was canceled by the video assistant referee (VAR), but rather his bad feeling from a physical standpoint.

Enrique confirmed that Dembele’s exit from the match “has nothing to do” with the injury he suffered in the posterior muscle of the right thigh last September, which kept the No. 10 out of action for a month and a half, and appears to have returned to him against Nice last Saturday in the league.

As for Hakimi, who had so far been free from physical problems, he was the victim of bad luck: not due to an injury resulting from fatigue after a long season, but rather as a result of a violent intervention from behind by Bayern Munich’s Colombian international winger, Luis Dias, which injured him in the ankle of his left foot.

Hakimi screamed and shed tears from the severity of the pain and left the field with the help of a terrified medical team. The two players will undergo examinations, including an MRI of the Moroccan player, according to what the club reported on Tuesday evening to Agence France-Presse, without specifying the nature of the two injuries.
