The incident occurred Tuesday while Sheinbaum was walking to an activity near the presidential palace, and while she was shaking hands with people and taking pictures with them, according to video clips posted on social media.

In the incidents that appear in this clip, the man approached Sheinbaum, and put his arm around her shoulder. A presidential security detail quickly pulled the man away, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
Despite his behavior, Sheinbaum treated the man politely, agreed to take a photo with him, and then patted him on the back. The security authorities later reported that the man had been arrested.
The Mexican Minister of Women’s Affairs, appointed by Sheinbaum, commented on the incident.
