Arab and international elite on the jury committees of the Sharm El-Sheikh Youth Theater Festival in its tenth session
The Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival, headed by artist and director Mazen El-Gharbawy, revealed the formation of the arbitration committees for the tenth session competitions, which will be held during the period from November 25 to 30, 2025, in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture headed by Professor Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities headed by His Excellency Minister Sherif Fathi, and the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, headed by Engineer Ahmed Youssef, and in cooperation with the South Governorate. Sinai, led by Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak.
The administration of the festival, which is run by Dr. Angie El-Bastawi, confirmed that the new edition bears the name of the great star Ilham Shaheen, in honor of her rich artistic career and her continuous support for theater and arts issues, while the festival’s supreme committee is headed by producer Hisham Suleiman, and the honorary presidency is held by the late lady of Arab theater, Samiha Ayoub.
And in the major performances competition, it was announced that the distinguished artist Suhair will take over. Al-Murshedi chairs the jury, whose members include the Iraqi artist Jawad Al-Shukarji, Dr. Yuri Mbarshvili from Georgia, the artist Luminita Dan Bersan from Romania, and the artist Ilham Al-Fadala from Kuwait, in a committee that combines multiple artistic experiences from the Arab world and Europe.
As for the monodrama competition, it is chaired by the artist Sabreen, and its members include the artist Khadija Al-Bakoush from Tunisia, and the artist and director Majid Al-Awfi. From the Sultanate of Oman, it was announced during the press conference in the presence of the artist Mido Adel.
In the Children’s Theater Competition, the artist Hossam Dagher announced that he will chair the jury, which includes Rula Al-Habahba from Jordan, Professor Levan Khetaguri from Georgia, and Dr. Antonella Cornici from Romania, stressing his pride in participating in a committee that seeks to encourage imagination and creativity among new generations of playwrights.
The artist Amr Abdel Aziz also announced He chaired the jury for street theater and non-traditional spaces, which includes star Viera Mujovic from Serbia, and artist and director Adam Berzynski Belaj from Hungary. It is a committee that aims to support theatrical experiences outside the traditional framework and encourage direct interaction with the audience.
As for the special surprise of this session, it was the announcement of the establishment of the “Mediterranean Theater” award. For the first time in the festival’s history, Dr. Inji El-Bastawi revealed the formation of her jury with the participation of three of the most prominent names in the Turkish theatrical scene: Nurhan Oslu, Nazif Oslu, and Kubilay Erdilikara, all of whom are prominent symbols in the development of contemporary Turkish theatre.
