The Israelis raise a new crisis in Thailand…a sex scandal ignites widespread anger

A new incident is added to the series of violations by Israeli tourists in Thailand, after the Thai police arrested an Israeli husband while having sex outdoors at the “Wang Sai” waterfall. On the tourist island of Kufengan, in an incident that sparked a widespread wave of anger among local residents and tourists alike.
According to what was reported by Thai media, the incident occurred on Tuesday when a number of visitors noticed the Israeli husband engaging in “inappropriate behavior in broad daylight, without caring about the presence of other tourists in the place.”
Some visitors took photos and videos of the scene and shared them on social media, sparking a wave of outrage. Criticism and denunciation within the country reached the point of calling for strict legal measures to be taken against those involved.
After the spread of the video clips, the commander of the Kufenjan region, Suriya Bonvan, issued his orders to open an urgent investigation to determine the identity of the Israeli couple and prosecute them on charges of committing an indecent act in a public place, a crime punishable by Thai law with imprisonment and a fine.
The repercussions of the incident prompted the Thai authorities to raise the level of coordination with the Israeli embassy in Bangkok, where Surat Thani Provincial Police Chief met with Israeli diplomatic official Dr. Alona Fisher-Kim, Israel’s ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia, to discuss the increasingly bad behavior of Israeli tourists in the country.
Thai official sources reported that the meeting came on the occasion of the new leader taking office, and that he stressed the need to take stricter measures against violating tourists.
In parallel, the Bangkok Post newspaper reported: Officials reported that the governor of the region requested the cooperation of the Israeli embassy in educating its citizens visiting Thailand about etiquette and respect for local laws, indicating that “the responsibility lies with the embassy in reducing offensive manifestations that have begun to harm the image of Israeli tourists in the country.”
The newspaper also revealed that the incident comes within a series of cases that have sparked the anger of the Thai authorities due to the actions of some Israeli residents or visitors, especially those Those involved in illegal activities, such as operating unlicensed businesses or engaging in scandalous behavior, drug possession and trafficking, and theft.
Last week, a high-ranking Israeli delegation headed by Major General Avi Biton, Special Advisor to the National Security Council in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, visited Thailand.
According to what was reported by local authorities, Biton expressed during his meeting with the Surat Thani provincial police chief, Major General Swat Soksari, "In full support of Thailand’s right to take strict and rapid measures against any Israeli who violates the laws," stressing that his country supports every effort to maintain security and order in the Kingdom.
