Latifa Bint Mohammed meets with an elite group of music pioneers and representatives of institutions concerned with the sector to discuss its future in Dubai

Dubai, 6 November / WAM / Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, met with an elite group of the most prominent names in the music sector, including artists, composers, producers, and officials of institutions and broadcast platforms in Dubai and the UAE, to discuss the future of this creative sector and explore ways to develop and sustain it.

The meeting came within the framework of a series of councils that Her Highness is keen to hold with various intellectual and creative elites to discuss the horizons of the local creative scene and ways to advance its various elements and components to global reach.

The Council formed a platform for constructive dialogue during which participants exchanged ideas and visions about the requirements for developing the musical infrastructure, enhancing the presence of Emirati and Arab music on the global stage, and how to enhance its contribution to the development of the creative economy.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed that the council represents an exemplary opportunity and the beginning of a continuous and constructive dialogue between Dubai Culture and the music community. She said: “In the first council we hold around the field of music, we meet to explore the features and future of the sector, and learn about the various elements and voices that make up it. During the meeting, Her Highness highlighted the richness of the Emirati musical heritage, noting the importance of harnessing all capabilities to develop it and ensure its sustainability, calling on Her Highness to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors to support musicians and creatives, and enable them to develop their works and projects in the emirate in a way that contributes to advancing the creative economy in Dubai, and consolidating the concepts of innovation in this field, while adhering to the highest international standards of excellence.

Her Highness reiterated the commitment of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority to support pioneering, youth and emerging creators, stressing the importance of building bridges of communication between various people and institutions involved in the music sector, which contributes to paving the way for sustainable professional paths for the new generation of musicians, stressing the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in achieving the desired goals of the sector.

Her Highness concluded her speech by saying: “When we open horizons for talent and give young musicians the right opportunities, we not only support their dreams, but we build a legacy that will last a long time.”

For their part, the participants in the meeting stressed the importance of the discussion witnessed by the Council in laying the foundations from which to start to achieve the desired development and prosperity of the art of music in Dubai and the UAE, noting the interest, support and encouragement given by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to various creative sectors, including the music sector, inspired by Dubai’s approach to stimulating creative energies in various fields, and in a way that reflects the wise leadership’s keenness to consolidate Dubai’s position.
