In implementation of the directives of the President of the State regarding an urgent response, the UAE sends a joint relief team and provides immediate humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake in northern Afghanistan.

Abu Dhabi, 7 November / WAM / In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, towards an immediate response to the repercussions of the earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan. A joint relief team, including representatives of joint operations, the Emirates International Aid Agency, and the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, left the country, heading to the affected areas to provide urgent support and assistance to those affected.
Upon its arrival, the team began implementing field assessments in full coordination with local authorities and international partners, which enhances the effectiveness of relief efforts, expands the scope of the response, and provides logistical and humanitarian support to the most affected areas, in addition to providing direct aid to those affected and meeting their urgent needs.
The UAE launched an urgent air bridge to northern Afghanistan, where 4 planes departed carrying integrated humanitarian aid, including basic relief materials, medical supplies, and shelter tents. The air bridge coincides with the purchase of materials and supplies from the local market to ensure rapid response, enhance relief efforts, support the wounded and injured, and immediately mitigate the effects of the disaster on the afflicted families.
This rapid response embodies the directives of the wise leadership and the UAE’s consistent humanitarian approach in supporting people affected by disasters around the world without any discrimination, and confirms the country’s firm commitment to alleviating human suffering through effective and urgent interventions in crisis sites.
