Health receives a global health advisory committee to discuss cooperation in supporting epidemic prevention and preparedness plans
The Ministry of Health and Population received the Independent Advisory Oversight Committee of Experts, charged with providing technical advice to the Executive Council of the World Health Organization, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the Administrative Capital, as part of the committee’s official visit program to Egypt.
This comes within the framework of implementing the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, as part of the Ministry’s work strategies.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the meeting discussed the national efforts made in the field of strengthening the health system. Public health, especially the successes achieved by Egypt in eliminating a number of infectious diseases, such as polio, malaria, hepatitis B, and measles, in addition to expanding preventive services and early detection programs for chronic diseases, within presidential initiatives that are considered a pioneering model in strengthening primary health care.
«Abdul Ghaffar» added; The meeting included arranging for the committee’s visit to a medical center, and also included the committee’s praise of the wide range of services provided to citizens, including prevention, early detection, and free treatment.
For his part, Dr. Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, stressed the depth of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Health and Population and the World Health Organization, noting the continued cooperation in supporting plans for prevention and preparedness for epidemics and strengthening national capabilities, within the framework of achieving the goals of the National Health Strategy and the “Egypt” vision. 2030».
The meeting was attended by Dr. Rady Hammad, Head of the Preventive Medicine and Public Health Sector, and Dr. Nima Saeed Abed, Representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt.
