Dr. Salama Gomaa Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University, expressed his great happiness with the opening of the College of Islamic and Arab Studies for Boys in Beni Suef Governorate, today, Saturday, making it college No. (107) in the total colleges of Al-Azhar University in Cairo and the regions, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, Dr. Ramadan Al-Sawy, Vice President of the University for Lower Egypt, Dr. Sayed Bakri, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Assem Qubaisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments in Beni Suef. Conveying to them the greetings of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and his sincere hope that it will be a successful conference and that it will produce useful recommendations that contribute to the development of scientific research.
The President of the University explained that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, since its founding (1085), has kept in mind the importance of inter-disciplinary studies and their impact on the development of scientific research, pointing out that nations are measured by the production of knowledge, not its consumption.
The President of the University explained that the Islamic religion is a religion. Science and scientific research, pointing out that the first thing that was revealed to the Beloved Chosen One, peace and blessings be upon him, was: “Read in the name of your Lord who created (1) He created man from a clot (2) Recite and your Lord is Most Generous (3) Who taught by the pen (4) He taught man what he did not know.
His Eminence added that there is a misunderstanding of the noble hadith in which the Chosen One, peace and blessings be upon him, says: “The upper hand is better and more beloved to God Almighty than the lower hand.” Some people understood that the upper hand meant only the upper hand in spending, while what was meant by it was the upper hand in everything, the hand that produces medicine, food, clothing, and other everything that a person needs.
The president of the university said: The sciences of Islam are all one fabric that integrates with each other to serve humanity, indicating that this has been embodied in the corridors of Al-Azhar in the past and in the present.
