4 major projects to develop the higher education system in the country

The Higher Education Committee revealed four main projects that the working groups of the Advisory Committee for Higher Education and Future Skills are working on to develop the higher education system in the country, including enhancing cooperation between higher education and industry, supporting health and education programmes, bridging the gap between public and higher education, in addition to employing artificial intelligence in education to accelerate the development of academic programs and raise their efficiency.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research confirmed that the main working groups of the Advisory Committee for Higher Education and Future Skills of the Higher Education Committee, which follows up on the four projects, are working to enhance coordination and integration between the various components of the higher education system in the country, ensuring that this system is flexible, proactive, and linked to the needs of the labor market and national priorities.

It stressed its commitment to developing more effective and efficient educational strategies, which contribute to building an environment conducive to learning, and establishing a flexible and interconnected educational system that enhances students’ readiness and facilitates their smooth transition to university education, and from there to the labor market, by establishing diverse and proactive educational paths that enable all students to have opportunities to enroll in higher education, in addition to improving the quality of academic guidance, raising registration rates in the unified national registration system, and expanding university education options.

The Ministry indicated that the scholarship program for national students to study abroad focuses on specializations directly related to national priorities and labor market needs, such as (artificial intelligence and data science, advanced engineering, renewable energy, and medical and health sciences). It also includes the fields of business administration, economics, and social sciences, which support building an advanced knowledge society. These numbers highlight the qualitative orientation of the program, as the focus is on academic quality, as a criterion for success. The program also continues to direct students towards future specializations that will lead economic and social transformations in the coming decades, and enhance the state’s role in the fields of knowledge economy, climate neutrality, and digital transformation.

The Ministry indicated its commitment to building a smart and sustainable educational system that enables youth and students to be creative and innovative, and keeps pace with the UAE’s trends towards building a knowledge economy based on innovation and technological leadership, pointing to its implementation of many projects based on artificial intelligence technologies, including: the automatic recognition service for higher education qualifications issued from within the country, the artificial intelligence auditor concerned with verifying the authenticity of certificates issued outside the country, improving the student’s journey through the academic records analyst, in addition to the artificial intelligence verification system for acceptance letters for scholarships, and ensuring that the university Accredited, and other scholarship admission data.

It pointed out that it continues to achieve the goals of the government bureaucracy zeroing program, by enhancing the experience of all categories of customers, through the development and launch of a new, improved and integrated digital services package, including registration services in higher education institutions and foreign missions, requests for recognition (attestation) of academic and professional university qualifications issued from within the country, recognition of university qualifications issued from outside the country, and services that are provided to institutions and others.
