Forum “History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques” from November 10 to 12

The King Abdulaziz House is organizing the “History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques” forum, in cooperation with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the “Service for the Guests of God” program, during the period from 10 to 12 November this year, on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Hajj Conference and Exhibition held in the Super Dome Hall in Jeddah.

The forum aims to highlight the Kingdom’s historical and organizational efforts in serving the Two Holy Mosques, document the architectural and artistic transformations witnessed by the holy sites, as well as use the latest methods to study the history of Hajj by taking advantage of digital media, and support specialized scientific research in this field. The forum also seeks to transform its outputs into content that serves the fields of education and media and contributes to highlighting the historical development of the Hajj journey in the Islamic world.

Over the course of three days, the forum includes more than 10 specialized dialogue sessions with the participation of more than 50 speakers from the most prominent historians, researchers and specialists in the fields of history, architecture, culture, media and digital technologies, thus forming a unique scientific and cultural event of its kind in documenting the Hajj ritual with a modern and comprehensive vision.

The forum’s activities will witness the discussion of five axes, including efforts to organize Hajj and Umrah and serve the guests of God, the development of crowd management methods, transportation and health care, in addition to digital transformation in documentation and guidance. It also discusses what was mentioned about Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques in historical blogs and traveler’s writings, and reviews the architectural styles associated with the Two Holy Mosques and the visual identity in historical manuscripts and maps, in addition to the presence of Hajj in cultural and literary memory and the role of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in historical documentation.

On the sidelines of the forum, an accompanying exhibition will be held entitled “One Hundred Years of Care for the Two Holy Mosques,” documenting the history of Hajj over the course of a century, by displaying rare original documents, historical photographs, manuscripts, archaeological collectibles, and tools used by pilgrims, in addition to digital media and modern display technologies.

It is worth noting that the “King Abdulaziz House” is organizing the forum within the History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques project, in accordance with its mission to preserve and document the history of the Kingdom and the history of the Two Holy Mosques, so that the forum will be a national and global platform for documenting the ritual of Hajj and enhancing the cultural image of the Kingdom, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in the fields of culture and tourism, through interactive scientific and digital content that highlights the historical depth of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques.
