Judo raises the UAE’s harvest to 4 medals in the Islamic Solidarity Games

The UAE’s tally rose to 4 colored medals in the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games hosted by Saudi Arabia until the 21st of this month with the participation of 3,000 male and female players from 57 countries. The UAE participates in 14 sports, as the UAE champions have succeeded in winning a gold medal and 3 bronze medals so far, all in judo, bringing the UAE to the top of the ranking of Arab countries in the event, occupying sixth place in the medal table.
The national judo team player, Mohamed Yazbek, won the bronze medal after defeating Gambian player Faye Alex in the 73 kg competition. The national judo team player, Narmond Bayan, also won the bronze medal in the 66 kg competition, following his well-deserved victory over his Moroccan counterpart, Abderrahmane Bouchetta.
Our national judo team duo, Talal Shafeli and Omar Gad, will compete this evening for the bronze medal in the 81 kg competition, which was decided in favor of the UAE. The winner of the medal will be officially announced after the end of the match.
Bashirat Kharudi, a player of our national judo team, won the gold medal yesterday, Saturday, by defeating Kazakhstan champion Ayova Tolganay in the under-52 kg fight.
For his part, the President of the Emirates Judo Federation, Mohammed bin Thaloub Al-Darai, said that the superiority of Emirati judo in various regional and international sports forums could not have been achieved without the continuous and direct support of the wise leadership of the sports sector, which represents an investment in the insightful vision and wise directives of the necessity of paying attention to this important segment, and providing the requirements for creativity and brilliance at all levels, and what has been achieved recently at the level of judo, confirms that the UAE is the home of judo in recent decades. Al-Darai added that the remarkable development witnessed by the game confirms that the federation’s strategy, plans and future vision are progressing firmly thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the follow-up of the sports councils, member clubs, and all members and affiliates of the federation, which placed UAE judo at the forefront of the Arab countries on the first day of judo competitions within the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISSA) for the year 2025.
Al-Darai congratulated the national judo team player, Bashirat Kharoudi, for winning the first gold medal for the UAE in the Solidarity Tournament events, in addition to the victory of our player Narmond Bayan with a bronze in the competition (weight under 66 kg) and the player Muhammad Yazbek with a bronze in the competition (weight under 73 kg), in addition to the fourth bronze medal that will be added to the country’s tally in the event through the sport of judo.
