On the sidelines of his visit to China, Theyab bin Mohammed inspects the Shanghai Maglev Train, the fastest train in commercial operation
BEIJING, 9 NOVEMBER/WAM/ During his visit to the People’s Republic of China, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs, was briefed on the advanced technologies of the “Maglev” high-speed train in the city of Shanghai.
His Highness toured the train, which is currently the fastest train in commercial operation in the world, reaching a speed of 431 kilometers per hour, and covering a 30-kilometre route in seven minutes, linking Shanghai Pudong Airport to Longyang Road Station.
His Highness met with a number of railway operating and construction officials in China, where he was briefed on the latest technologies and operational experiences in the high-speed train sector.
The visit also included a field tour inside the high-speed train station, during which His Highness learned about the smart signaling systems and the infrastructure designated for high-speed lines, in addition to seeing the advanced passenger cars and digital systems related to safety and comfort.
His Highness was accompanied during the visit by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, His Excellency Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajri, Minister of State, and His Excellency Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
