Charitable Investment Fund to Support People with Disabilities Ataa finances support for 13 sports clubs

The Charitable Investment Fund to Support People with Disabilities announced " tender" announced the launch of a new project in cooperation with the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, to finance the purchase of 65 sports wheelchairs for 13 sports clubs to practice wheelchair basketball.

 

This project comes within the framework of the Fund’s keenness to empower people with motor disabilities with appropriate assistive tools to practice sports and participate in society on an equal basis with their peers, in order to achieve the goals of integration and sustainable empowerment of people with disabilities in various fields.

Amira Al-Rifai, Director, stated that Executive Director of the “Ataa” Fund The project aims to support 8 current sports clubs that practice the game, in addition to supporting 5 new sports clubs that seek to establish new teams and enhance their technical capabilities and the infrastructure necessary for this sporting activity, which contributes to expanding the base of participation in the game of wheelchair basketball in various governorates.

Explaining that the impact of this support is not limited to sports empowerment only, but extends to include enhancing community integration, belonging, and self-realization, in line with the vision of the “Ataa” Fund. In supporting assistive tools and achieving availability in various fields.

Al-Rifai indicated that this project reflects the Fund’s deep belief in the role of sports in empowering people with disabilities and enhancing their self-confidence, noting that providing specialized sports chairs is an essential step towards empowering people with disabilities with appropriate assistive tools and their effective participation, and expanding the base of players in various governorates.

Al-Rifai added that the “Ataa” Fund Through this initiative, it seeks to achieve a qualitative shift in the infrastructure of Paralympic sports in Egypt, in line with the Egyptian state’s directions in supporting the rights of persons with disabilities and empowering them in all fields, affirming the “Ataa” Fund. His commitment to continuing his efforts to provide fair opportunities for people with disabilities in the fields of education, economic empowerment, rehabilitation and accessibility, stressing that these efforts come within the framework of a comprehensive vision to build a more inclusive, just and equitable society, based on partnership between state institutions, the private sector and civil society.

It is worth noting that "Ataa" It is the first charitable investment fund established in Egypt, and its founders were keen to make its focus be in the field of supporting people with disabilities. He stressed that one of the most important advantages of the mechanism of charitable investment funds is ensuring the sustainability of financing, as disbursement is not made from the original funds, but from their investment returns.
