President Sisi stresses the importance of fully implementing the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, today, Mr. Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of General Intelligence, Fayza Abul Naga, Adviser to the President of the Republic for National Security Affairs, and from the Russian side, Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, And Georgy Borisenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cairo, Sergei Mikheyev, Deputy Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Andrey Yevsiev, official in the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and Maria Baneva, official in the Foreign Policy Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that The President began the meeting by requesting to convey his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing Egypt’s appreciation for its close relationship with Russia, and the development and momentum it is witnessing, which culminated in the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. For his part, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council conveyed to Mr. President Putin’s greetings and appreciation, stressing Russia’s keenness to continue developing and advancing bilateral relations with Egypt, in addition to continuing political consultation on issues of common interest.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, explained that the meeting dealt with a number of regional and international issues, as Mr. President stressed in this regard the need to continue making efforts to achieve stability in the countries of the Middle East and preserve their unity. Its sovereignty and the capabilities of its peoples, and His Excellency stressed the importance of fully implementing the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, to stop the war in the Gaza Strip in all its stages, establish the ceasefire, and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities into the Strip without restrictions.
In this context, it was emphasized that implementing the two-state solution and establishing the Palestinian state, in accordance with the references of international legitimacy, is the only way to achieve just and lasting peace and stability in the region. For his part, Mr. President indicated that Egypt supports all efforts aimed at settling the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and reaching a comprehensive peace.
The official spokesman added that the meeting also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia, and review opportunities for developing them in various fields, especially political, commercial, and investment. The importance of building on what was agreed upon during the summit that brought together Mr. President and the Russian President was also stressed during Mr. President’s visit to Moscow, to participate in Victory Day celebrations in May 2025. In the same context, the meeting touched on the project to establish the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, in addition to other files, where Mr. President stressed the importance of intensifying economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, working to increase the volume of trade exchange, and enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector.
The meeting concluded with the Secretary of the Russian Security Council affirming his country’s appreciation for the Egyptian role in the Middle East region, indicating that history will remember the essential role played by Mr. President to achieve regional stability, stressing his keenness to Russia agrees to continue coordination with Egypt in this context.
