"Palestinian Foreign Ministry" Welcomes UNESCO’s adoption of 4 resolutions in favor of Palestine

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the adoption by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) At the forty-third session, held in the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, four resolutions were unanimously adopted by the State of Palestine, regarding the city of Jerusalem, and the consequences of the current situation in the Gaza Strip with regard to “UNESCO”, and support for the continuity of educational activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East “UNRWA”, and the decision of educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories.
The “Palestinian Foreign Ministry” stressed, In a statement reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), this evening, Monday, he stressed the importance of these decisions at this time, and at a time when Israel (the occupying power) continues its crimes and violations of all aspects of the work of UNESCO. In the fields of education, culture, tangible and intangible heritage, and its deliberate targeting of heritage sites, schools, educational and media institutions, and journalists in the Gaza Strip, and its perpetration of genocide and cultural genocide, and the extension of this genocide to the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the violation of the sanctity of archaeological and religious sites and assault on them in an attempt to change the current legal and historical reality of the city of Jerusalem and its walls, and to develop a special action plan to preserve its cultural heritage, in addition to what is being exposed to the Holy Mosque, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a pure place of worship. She pointed to the important role of the UNESCO General Conference, which is held once every two years, and the focus on the immediate Palestinian issues in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the role of partner institutions such as UNRWA. The call for the development of an urgent assistance program for the Gaza Strip that includes an action plan, and the establishment of a special account for voluntary contributions in accordance with the organization’s financial system.
